MARTHA PALAZA, owner of Palaza Designs, is an apparel design professional who has worked in pattern making, production, and fashion education for over twenty years.
Martha brings a wide range of industry experience—developing and producing everything from custom costumes for theater and opera companies to outdoor gear—to the classroom. Martha has taught pattern making, draping, tailoring, sewing, and more at schools throughout the Boston area, including Massachusetts College of Art and Design, Fisher College and the School of Fashion Design.
Martha has over a decade of experience in online fashion education, learning what works as both a student and an instructor. She earned her online MFA in fashion design from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. Martha then developed a virtual curriculum for the University of Fashion in New York. Martha has created clear video tutorials and handouts to teach technical skills, from beginning pattern making and CAD pattern making and fitting to more advanced topics like fitting, grading, and designing and pattern making for knit fabrics. In 2020, Martha began teaching online independently, offering the Draft to Measure workshop series.
